Carbon County Property Taxes
What Taxes Are Included
In Carbon County your annual property tax bill typically includes three parts:
1. County Taxes
These fund county‑wide services such as courts, public health, county roads, and other administrative functions. The county and local (borough/township) taxes operate on a calendar year basis (Jan 1 – Dec 31).
2. Borough/Township Taxes
These support services in your local municipality (borough or township), including police, fire, street maintenance, parks, and local administration.
3. School District Taxes
School taxes are collected to fund your local school district (such as Lehighton, Palmerton, Weatherly, Jim Thorpe, or Panther Valley). School tax bills are issued according to the school year (July 1 – June 30) and mailed at different times depending on district.
